Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination released the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the soon-to-release cartoon movie.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a fresh princess character and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Returns and Expands
The feature will feature once again of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive close to the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Premiere Date Announced
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
