Oasis Guitarist Paul Arthurs to Miss Concert Series for Medical Care

The guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs has announced he will miss a segment of his band’s reunion tour as he receives treatment for prostate cancer.

Tour Dates Affected

Arthurs, 60, a original member of the group, announced he will be unable to play at the upcoming shows in Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney and Melbourne.

The Seoul concert is set for 21 October, followed by Tokyo on 25-26 October, Melbourne on 31 October, 1 and 4 November, and Sydney on 7-8 November.

Health Update

In a social media post, he disclosed that he was diagnosed prostate cancer earlier this year and is responding well to therapy.

“Early this year I was found to have prostate cancer. The positive aspect is I’m reacting very positively to treatment, which allowed me to participate in this incredible tour.
“Now, I am needing to take a planned break for the subsequent stage of my treatment, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. I’m very disappointed to be missing these shows but I’m doing well and will be back ready to go in time for South America.”

Earlier Cancer Diagnosis

This marks his first health battle. In 2022, Arthurs disclosed he had been found to have tonsil cancer.

At that time, he wrote: “Just to inform everyone I’m going to be taking a break from performing for a while. I have been diagnosed with a tonsil cancer. But the good news is it’s manageable and I will be beginning a course of treatment soon.”

Musical Journey

Arthurs was a member in the band The Rain with the frontman in the start of the 90s before they recruited the singer’s brother, Noel, who subsequently demanded they adopt a new name.

He recorded three records with the band, including the era-defining Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?, before departing in 1999 during the production of the next record, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.

Arthurs subsequently became part of Liam Gallagher’s band for a period and has frequently played on stage with Liam during his solo career, most recently at the UK music festivals in 2021.

He also established the group his own band and worked as a radio DJ after his period in the group.
