Jennifer Lawrence Expresses Speaking About Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ Dividing the Country Apart
Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she no longer feels fitting to speak out countering the Trump administration, worried it could worsen unhelpful debate and increase separation throughout the nation.
‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Notes Lawrence
During a discussion, Lawrence shared, “Back in Trump’s initial term, I believed I was acting frantically like a chicken with my head cut off. But it’s become clear, through repeated campaigns, celebrities have no real impact in any way on electoral choices.”
Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just expressing personal views on a matter that’s going to worsen tensions dividing the nation apart.”
Political Evolution
Lawrence has previously been open about supporting Republican and Democratic contenders in past elections. Raised by Republican parents in Kentucky, she cast her ballot for the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and revealing she recognized during Obama’s administration that backing conservatives was voting against her own rights as a woman.
Earlier Remarks
In 2015, she stated that Donald Trump’s election could represent “a catastrophic event” and backed the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. More recently, she gave her endorsement to the Democratic nominee, “because I think she’s an amazing candidate and I am confident that she will make every effort to protect abortion access.”
Celebrity Views
The star was joined by most of Hollywood in her rejection of Donald Trump as a returning figure, but the minimal impact celebrities have over the public choices was emphasized by his election win.
“Another four years appears changed,” noted Lawrence about Trump’s presidency. “As he said what he was going to do. We were aware of his actions for four years. He was explicit. And that’s the option selected.”
Current Projects
Lawrence is highlighting her new film, director Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she portrays a new mother who faces challenges with her emotional state in a remote area. Speaking at a press conference for the project in the film festival, the star commented on the situation in the Middle East: “I feel fear. It’s horrifying. What’s taking place is no less than a atrocity and it’s awful.”
Broader Concerns
She continued by stating that she was disheartened by “the hostility in the conversations of the political landscape right now and how that is going to be accepted to the children now. It’s going to be standard to them that politicians lie.”
She attempted to refocus anger about the conflict to decision-makers rather than entertainers. “Concentrate on the people in charge,” she said, seen by observers as a nod to the then-recent pledge supported by more than 4,000 entertainment industry figures to boycott specific industry bodies.
Personal Connections
The actor, who won an Oscar at a young age for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook, is attracting awards attention for her portrayal in Die, My Love. Even though Ramsay has rejected the plot being understood as one of post-birth struggles and psychological distress, Lawrence said that she identified with parts of her role’s experience after the delivery of her new baby, not long after shooting ended.
“There was concern for my son,” she said, “envisioning every potential danger, and then second-guessing everything that I was trying. I was receiving counseling, but I began using a treatment called that medicine and I took it for two weeks and it was effective.”
Professional Experiences
The actor also discussed regarding the freeing requirement of completing nude scenes in the project while she was in pregnancy and limited physically.
“It’s refreshing,” she commented, about having to set aside self-consciousness. “Honestly, I sometimes think where I’m like, How exactly do I differ between myself and a sex worker? But it isn’t a major concern.”
