BF6 Players Agree: Tasks Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started turning to custom matches set up using the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how grueling these challenges have become.

Grasping BF6 Tasks

Tasks represent Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four categories of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one main guns available in the game.

Several of these locked weapons might eventually find their way on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash across Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which isn't typically where you prefer to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that challenge would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Extremely Difficult Mission

A different forum member pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, within the marksman rifle class to unlock the PSR:

  • Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, another expansive area, and maybe Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you aim to take long-range shots from a significant distance.

The Alternative Method

Nevertheless, a method exists: the portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if tackling the tasks in a normal session feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for grinding them out in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are toned down in the near future, because if they're not, some players simply will never acquire the restricted guns.

For now, the audience continues to express their views on these challenging battlefield assignments, anticipating a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
